Thank you everyone who gave such positive comments after our first stewardship Sunday. It’s good to be as transparent as we can with our finances. This week, I’d like to let everyone know about two more things coming up that are very important. Over the last year, I’ve come to the discovery that I simply don’t have current information in the office on most of our people. It’s important for us to have clear records. At the same time, our last parish directory was done over 10 years ago. With that in mind, we’re going to be doing a parish census to update our records and a new photo directory.
First, the photo directory. Lifetouch had asked us if we wanted to update our photo directory. Since the last directory was done over 10 years ago, it seemed like a good idea. We will be having signups every weekend until the event Oct 14-15. Please consider joining us. You should be getting a phone call soon about the event. For those who are online, we’ll be posting links to our website to sign up. Otherwise, sign up in Church any Sunday or call the office.
Secondly, the Census: When we went to make up our calling lists for the photo directory, we realized that we’re missing a lot of info on many of our parishioners. It’s important for every parish to have clear and current records of parishioners, names, addresses, sacramental info, etc. Many of our records are rather old. We have no files on many of our younger members, and often phone numbers and addresses are wrong. With that in mind, we’re asking EVERY parishioner to bring back a new registration form. We’ll put those forms into a new book. The forms we’ll be using go with a parish organizational system that we’re considering. If there is information you are not comfortable filling out, please simply leave that line blank. You may return the forms in the collection any Sunday or mail them to the parish. Please try to fill out a form. Once we have most of the forms, we will be contacting individuals who have not turned one in to verify that they are still members of our parish.
I know it’s a lot of information back to back, but now that our finances are mostly in order, it’s time to move on to some other things in our parish. God Bless you all and thanks for putting up with me!
